Rentals
Renter Checklist
-Have an idea of what area you wish to live in.
-Start looking about 60 days before you wish to move in. Most landlords will not hold a property until you are ready to move.
-Use a reputable leasing agent or real estate agent to view properties. Be very careful when using sites like Craigslist or Zillow.
-When you find a condo or home to lease be prepared to submit information for a credit and background check.
-Most rentals require a security deposit of one month’s rent plus the first month’s rent prior to move-in.
-Pets. Always check the pet policy if you have a pet. Some rentals do not allow pets and others will with an additional deposit and/or monthly “pet rent”.
-Ask to do a walk through prior to move-in to ensure everything is as you expected.
